Judging Process and Awards 2010

2010 is shaping up to be a great year, last year was our first year implementing our new “Judging Process” and it went good. Not great but good, how can we make it better? Add more awards? That’s exactly what we did, this year for every class we will be awarding a first and a second place class award. We listened throughout ‘09 and made changes.

9:30 Saturday Morning...Where Are You!

9:30 Saturday morning at any of the Jamborees, where are you? I am where I always am at that time, main stage giving a judging seminar. I have been doing this for the past 11 years now. The participants that do attend my seminars are in the know. I am surprised at just how many people do not attend, and then ask questions at 4:00 that afternoon, what class am I in? If you are at main stage at 9:30 you will… Continue

So you want to be a Super Star?

So you want to be a Super Star…or maybe the title should be “15 Minutes of Fame”. -VIDEO -Regardless of the title I am talking about one thing…Recognition. Everyone wants some, even if it’s a small slice. If you have been to any of the Jamborees you have seen photographers from the popular 4 wheel drive magazines, and also film crews doing interviews with participants that own exceptional well assembled vehi… Continue

What can I do to improve my ride?

On the flight home from Texas I thought of my weekend and the hundreds of questions I am asked each event weekend. As the judging supervisor for Family Events the number one question I am asked is “how can I improve my ride”. Unfortunately I am usually asked this question on Saturday afternoon while I am judging. Obviously this is not the best time to ask or answer this question; time is at an absolute minimum on Saturday since this is the only day for judging. Sunday is much better and I am ava… Continue

JUDGE NOT, LEST YE BE JUDGED

If you are fortunate enough to have the opportunity to enter your 4-Wheel Drive vehicle in one of the many Family Events 4-Wheel Drive Jamborees, don't miss the "Show-N-Shine". There are a multitude of things to do at the 4-Wheel Drive Jamborees, some people like to do and see as many as they can, while others like to hang out and socialize with their friends the whole weekend.

Then there is a group of individuals that likes to wash, wax and polish until Saturday, they then get in line to have… Continue
