The Heart and Soul of the 4 Wheel Jamborees

I looked up the results for the Lima show, and noticed in the street zero class there was no suv class. Was that because there wasn't any or not enuff suv's in the street zero class? Will there be one at Bloomsburg?

Thank you for any info.

I am not sure if they even had an SUV class. My finace won the street zero class and he has a 97 tahoe. They probably didnt have a big turn out of SUV's to be judged. But really why does panther pit win grand champion every year when there are tons more trucks there that are way better then his truck. The classes they have they really dont place them right, according to what we have seen in the past years. They may want to consider the fact that no one judges anymore because Fred always won, we all knew it was useless to even get judged.

Spoiled 'Lil Princess,

I just want to address the Fred Volz statement you made. I have gotten into some very heated discussions over the years because of this man. Fred is someone that studied the rules and before he made a change to his truck he would call me what repercussions it would have. Yes, you can call also, but it is much easier on this web site to ask and answer questions. He knew how to bend (if you want to call it that) his truck to stay in that class.

He was not doing anything dishonest, he would just "dumb" his truck down after a rule change so not to be moved up in class. Example; covering his air cleaner with a leather cover so I would not get him for excessive plating/polishing. Finally, last year we moved him to the Modified class, he knew he would be a small fish in an very expensive big pond. After that he decided not to show up anymore. This was after a lot of kicking and screaming, I am used to people smiling and talking to my face and then talking about me behind my back. Fred thought it would never be the same if he was not winning all the time, Indy was his last show, this is according to Fred as of 05/23/08.

Eric,

The Street Zero class was started because of so many trucks in the Street class. From historical reference I saw that the SUV (mini or full) class was limited in numbers. This was the result at 90% of our shows. Now you may see lots on the grounds but they do not pull through judging. So with that in mind I did not want to pack up and store two or three unclaimed trophies per show because of lack of participation. If for some reason that class started to get repopulated we would open it up to Street Zero.

Sometimes as I am walking around on Sunday afternoon getting a closer look at the trucks I did not see during judging. I am amazed at the trucks that would be walking away with first place awards but never drove through judging. And I am not saying they would have taken it away from someone else, I am saying that particular award was never given away because of a lack of participation it that certain class. I won't mention what classes either, but it is a shame.

i went through judging the first year that i lifted my tahoe and i won an award in lima, but ever since i started paying closer attention to the class's and mods to be in those class's and seeing the same people win for reason that i could not see i got turned off from judging also.... i know that the suv class is small and for the most part the suv's that i was against were off good quality its such a smaller scale than the pickups.... and i also see what your saying about vehicles that didnt go though judging that should of and could of taken an award.... i've seen the lack of consistancy of some vehicles that were in one class one year at a show and the next show in a different one, but also i have never went to the judging meeting either so i guess i cant really complain to much but it is what it is. i think that the participation in the judging should go up being that a certain negative person isnt there anymore..... i think he ruined it for a lot of people.

on a side note, ive tried to look at the different mods list and tried to figure out what category i'd be in. in each of the sections is 1 of them considered a mod or a combination of things, i believe that you touched on this but i cant remember.

with the info that you have given me and i hope this goes for others too that there will be more people do the judging i'd love to c the suv class come back

why have the participant choice numbers been dropped to so few awards now?

thanks for your comments. i also emailed you some photos of my truck

Deviant,

If you look at the rules, you will see why sometimes a truck can change classes from one show to the next. It could be as little as modifying a headliner, this is of course if the owner already had two major changes to the interior. I have also included a link to the judging rules. And you are correct, being at a judging meeting on Saturday morning will open up your eyes. I try to cover everything and then answer any questions that are out there. The Participant Choice awards have dropped because as in every part of the economy right now something's have to be cut. I never did get your pictures, could you resend them?
